The means by which researchers and scholars and students collect, access, and disseminate data, information, and research results will continue to develop as technology changes, using new ways of discovery and use, new mechanisms of collecting, storing, cataloging and sharing information, and new forms of publishing.
Lilavati Lalbhai Library houses more than 50,000 resources which include books, bound volumes of journals, theses and students’ reports. The library collection includes the key works of reference pertaining to the 5 Faculties on Campus. subjects like Architecture, Art, History and civilization, Urban Design, Landscape Design, Interior Design, Furniture Design, Graphics, Textile Design, Computer Aided Design, Building Science, Structural Design, Earthquake Engineering, Construction Planning and Management, Urban and Regional Planning, Housing, Environmental Planning, Transportation, Remote Sensing, GIS, Economics, Sociology and Economic Planning, are all available. In addition, the Library has a growing collection of Audio Visual Resources on CDs, DVDs and Slides.
More than 150 national and international periodicals are subscribed to, both in hard and digital forms, enabling users to keep up to date with the latest trends in their particular fields.
Library has a unique collection of over 4,500 drawings relating to research carried out by students and faculty over more than 50 years. The collection documents all forms of architecture and development to be found in India. This collection is referred to by national and international scholars.
A user-friendly library software called Koha has been adopted at the Library. This internationally recognized software facilitates automated circulation (issue & return) of the books and speedy access to bibliographies, locations and availability information of the books stocked in the library.
Library is equipped with latest RFID technology.
During academic session, library is open for more than 86 hours per week.
